I expected it to be a little worn because it was used but with no tears. This book arrived with a small tear on the front cover and a little worn and was rated very good condition. So I expected just a little better.
She actually followed the advice the book gave her and everything worked out perfectly. Sure enough, a few months later when some drama unfolded with her friends at school, she picked up the book. Now she reads the book over & over every night.I highly recommend this book to all young girls who are experiencing the 'girl drama'. I got this book for my 4th grader for Hannukah. While I know that reading is not her favorite thing to do, I was hoping she would pick up this book in a time of need.
It encourages girls to talk to other adults they trust with their issues and to not hold things in. The books talks about all different kinds of emotions and how to handle them. I think this book will be good for my 10 year old daughter. I think it will be a good reference for her to have.
Along with a book onpuberty, these two volumes seem to cover what she needs in a sensitive andprivate way. She took it to school, and several other mothers asked where I had gotten it. American Girl seems to have a finger on the pulsebeat oftoday's young women. I am not a "touchy-feely" person. When my nine-year-old daughter had someanger issues, I left this book on her bed.
This book is easy to read and clearly presented. I bought this book for my 11 year old granddaughter who found herself "crying for no reason". She was delighted to find out that she was "normal" and that there were may other people who were like her.
